Purity and authenticity fused with uniqueness are often the most influential elements when seeking for inspirations and finding them all rolled in one is another story altogether. The pleasure of romancing and recreating something that is almost fading can perhaps be found when done with utmost appreciation and respect. In this context it is about finding inspiration and preserving the beauty of a legacy that’s known for its distinctiveness.
MadSamTinZin has been prompted by one such story for its spring summer 2016 collection titled as Brok-pa. The collection is inspired by the hill tribe nestled in the desolate winding roads of Ladakh. Brok-pas are believed to be the last of the pure Aryan race. Their mystical story traces their genetic history to members of Alexander’s lost army and that is where the collection’s Greek influence meets the tribal essence.
The collection has infused Greek drapes with surface ornamentation, to replicate the texture details of Brokpa fabrics is the quintessence of this collection. The tribe’s affinity for flowers and silver jewellery is aesthetically present throughout the collection which exhibits a strong cultural significance of the Brok-pas. The collection constitutes of elongated Silhouettes, heavy on layering with off white as the predominant colour.
All in all the pieces in the collection gives a shout out to boho chic spirit while maintaining the bona fide streak of a community that is absorbed in its originality.
