At the Amazon India Fashion week spring/summer 2017, the Fashion Design Council of India has decided to dedicate first two days of the fashion week to the power of Indian handloom textiles. To keep up with the promise, the opening show comprised of 16 designers bringing the essence of the town of Chanderi alive in collaboration with Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia. Designers like Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg, Pero by Aneeth Arora, Bodice, Atsu by Atsu Sekhose, Payal Pratap and more created four ensembles each, giving the weave a twist with their signature style. The ensembles were a perfect blend of tradition with modernity of designer silhouette and construction. This one’s definitely a show that will be remembered for long. It was followed by Samanth Chauhan’s show bringing alive the influence of Aryan culture in India. His shows are always known for regal silhouettes and immaculate craftsmanship. Keep up with the theme of the day, Samant’s collection comprised mainly of chanderi fabrics with floral tapestry like zari and dabka embroidery. The third show for the day brought out the summery colours to the ramp. Krishna Mehta’s collection – Curious Alice essentially celebrated maheshwari with bold checks, kooky styling juxtaposed with easy, and ready to wear styles. With her inventive approach, Rina Dhaka recreated the classics for her spring/summer/17 collection. The collection was a perfect balance between elegance and refinement with real attention to new shapes. The graphics were inspired by traditional elements of paithan with lace and romance. Love Generation by Nandita Mehtani, Dolly Sidhwani and Bhavna Pandey made its debut at the fashion week. From everyday casuals to the urban girl’s statement pieces, Love Gen had something special for everyone. The first day ended on a high note with ITA’s show comprising of finest collection of bags and shows from 41top Italian brands complemented by special outfits from Alberto Zambelli, Bav Tailor, Davide Grillo and Leitmotiv.
