My Morning Skincare Routine + My Go To Makeup

Morning Skincare Routine:

If you ask me couple of years back what’s my daily skincare routine, my response will be pretty much “silent”. That’s because I never took care of my skin and I was pretty much ignorant about the importance of skincare. But right now, skincare is one of my number one priorities. I’m much more inclined to spend on skincare than I am on makeup. After all, the goal of makeup is to enhance our beauty. So why not make the job of makeup easier by providing it with a beautiful canvas, right?

I would also like to mention that I’m not a skincare expert (*disclaimer*). What I’m sharing today are the products and brands that suits my skin best and it may or may not suit you. So please do not judge me. If you have any feedback, I’d love to hear from you.

I have different types of skincare routine for morning and for night. Today, I’ll be sharing just the morning routine which is much simpler unlike my nighttime skincare routine.

p.s: I also keep on changing the brands/products depending on when I get some new updated products which is better for my skin.

Step 1: I use a very mild cleanser for my face or sometimes I just skip it and wash my face just with water.

Step 2: I use Himalaya Herbals Refreshing and Clarifying Toner before applying anything else on my face. Then I let it sit and dry by randomly fanning my face with my hands.

Step 3: I use Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate from Clinique and apply it all over my face and neck for an instant moisture boost. I like to dab and massage my face with my fingers while applying this gel rather than rubbing all over.

Next, I take a small amount of Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief from Clinique and follow the same dabbing and finger massage.

Step 4: While I wait for the product to seep inside my skin I use my favourite petroleum jelly to moisturize my lips.

Step 5: I use the Perfect 9 Repair Eye Cream from Innisfree for my eyes.

{ dabbing and massaging the cream is the best way to let the cream soak inside the skin }

Step 6: Now the last step before I start with my makeup. Sunscreen!

Sadly, I have come to understand the importance of sunscreen much later in my life! Now, I NEVER skip this step; this is vital. Sometimes I use it while I’m at home too. I use Clinique SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for face and neck.

And BTW, for those of you who still think Neutrogena is the best sunscreen you’ve ever used. Think again! I’ve used all kinds of sunscreen from different brands. But there is nothing like Clinique, because it doesn’t feel like regular sunscreen. It melts right into my skin and makes my face feel super hydrated.

{ I dab and massage the cream instead of rubbing it.}

Go To Makeup:

Step 1: First thing I use is a primer (Smashbox Studio Finish Primer). Rub that in all over your face. You just need a pea size dot you don’t need much.

Step 2: Next I use a foundation. I keep on changing my foundation coz there are too many good ones to choose from. For this post I used Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation in shade 2.2

Step 3: Now I use Estée Lauder Double Wear Brush On Glow BB Highlighter in shade medium to highlight my T-zone, under-eyes and cheekbones.

Step 4: I sculpt my cheeks, nose, jawlines and my forehead with a contour powder. I used Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit in Light/Medium to give my face some dimension.

Step 5: And once that’s done I use the light powder from the same kit to highlight the under eye, middle forehead, bridge of the nose and chin.

Step 6: We’re almost done! I use just three colors from MAC light festival to sculpt my eyes to appear bigger.

*Amber Lights

Step 7: I curl up my lashes with a lash curler and apply Mascara ( SmashBox Full Exposure).

Step 8: I use a spoolie to brush through my eyebrows in upward direction to set them.

Step 9: I use BOBBI BROWN Shimmer Brick Compact to highlight my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, lower forehead, chin and Cupid’s bow.
