Saree has always managed to intrigue me, albeit for myriad reasons. Hence it led to finding and learning more creative ways to indulge myself with that nine yards of fabric. I still remember my first saree experience way back in college where I wore a white saree with minimal detailing for my graduation day. I was so excited and quite scared at the same time to finally wear a saree. It sure was a mixed feeling.
I have always wondered how people manage to get around that nine yards of fabric, without being caught in its endless length and innumerable folds. But with time and playing around with the drapes I can finally say Saree is the most versatile, elegant and feminine piece one can wear! With time I’ve grown to love it even more. I would jump right in with creative mood board whenever I see a beautiful saree.
I’m donning one of Urvashi Kaur’s piece from her latest collection “SEYYAH”. I’ve always been a huge fan of her design and aesthetics and totally adore and love her sensibility towards creating global designs yet still manages to remain true to her roots.
The quest for identity in our lives especially in current times forms the basis for Urvashi Kaur’s latest collection Seyyah. The Turkish word for ‘wanderer’, Seyyah leads Urvashi to draw from distant memories and experi-ences crafting a deeply personal narrative. Working with an earthy, rustic palette the designer uses dusty shades of fawn that move to a faint blush, tempered with darker indigoes and olives.
